PRIDE Program PRIDE (Pupils Requiring Individualized Daily Education) is an afterschool program at San Elijo Middle School grades 6-8 and is staffed by our own teachers here at SEMS. There are two (2) areas of support provided: Language Arts support & Math support Program Criteria: -Achievement Test scores below proficient -Academic grades below average -Student Recommended by Staff Program Outline: -PRIDE is an intervention program to assist students are below proficient in Language Arts or Math -Students will be given instructions for twenty minutes of class in either LA or Math. Teachers will also assist students in organizational skills. Students will not receive homework through PRIDE -Students will also be able to receive additional help on LA or Math assignments -This is NOT A HOMEWORK CLUB, students may have homework after attending PRIDE and will need to work on it at home -This is a class and students are expected to attend every day. If students cannot attend, parents need to sign him/her out of school throught the attendance office, call the attendance office or student must bring a note -If an absence in the PRIDE class is unexcused, the student will receive lunch detention and a parent will be notified - Students will be dropped after 3 unexcused absences each semester -Parents need to obtain a drop slip from Counseling if their student can no longer attend PRIDE Parent and Student Responsibilities: -Students must attend every PRIDE class and stay the entire time, student will receive lunch detention if absence is not excused by parent the day of PRIDE -Students may not skip PRIDE for any reason including not having homework -Students are expected to follow school and classroom rules while attending PRIDE -Students are expected to bring binder, backpack, reading book, and class assignments -Students will participate in the PRIDE lessons -Parents must check students out through the Attendance Office if their student will not be attending PRIDE that day or their student needs to leave early, parents may call, send a note, or visit Attendance Office to excuse student TUESDAY & THURSDAY 2:15pm-3:15pm If you have any questions or need an application, please contact Counseling @ 760-290-2809 Last Modified on 09/28/2011 06:32:23 PM |
