Living the Eagle Way... See Us Soar

Are you SOARing at SEES?
Seize Opportunities, Achieve Results

San Elijo Elementary Volunteers help students SOAR everyday in many capacities.  We encourage our community members to find something that interests them to support our school.  We are fortunate enough to have many volunteers on campus do important work with our students and for our students.  Please take a few minutes to read the volunteer opportunities and contact the appropriate person.  Thank you for making a difference in the lives of our SEES students!

Mom's Prep Night
Every month mom's get together to prep things for our classrooms.  This includes copying, cutting, stapling, sorting, etc.  Volunteers typical work from 6-8:30 p.m. This allows our teachers to take a break from doing it themselves. If you are interested in participating in Mom's Prep Night, please contact Kristie at

PTO Events
Our PTO hosts several events throughout the year from fundraisers to activities for our students.  These events would not be possible without volunteers.  Please email sees_volunteer@yahoo.com to volunteer with these events.
Room Parent
Every classroom at SEES has a room parent.  Room parents coordinate classroom celebrations, classroom baskets for fundraisers and serve as a liaison with parents and teachers.  Contact your child's teacher if you are interested in being a room parent.
Art Docent
Art docents provide art lessons in our classrooms.  PTO provides the supplies and the training.  Our art docents guide our students in producing beautiful art work on a regular basis.  Contact your child's teacher if you are interested in being an art docent.
Science Lab Assistant
Our science lab is a hands-on place with lots of exciting experiments.  Science Lab Assistants volunteer to assist our Science Teacher, Mrs. Sefl (aka Miss Hippert).  Contact your child's teacher if you are interested in being a science lab assistant.
Traffic Volunteer
Traffic Volunteers are needed at SEES to keep our students safe during drop-off and pick times of the school day.  Our traffic volunteers assist students out of cars, help our traffic move quickly and man our crosswalks.  Please email carolyn.kalicki@smusd.org if you can support our traffic team.
CARE Volunteer
The CARE team (Community Achieving Results for Everyone) is a new program which will provide training to volunteers to support students' academic needs in the classrooms.  Our vision is to have volunteers working on a specific learning target with a small group of students within the classrooms.  For futher information click here.
Eagle Play Volunteer

Eagle Play is an organized playtime during lunch and recess hours that offers a safe and fun physical activity for all in grades 1st-5th.  Our goal is to have a peaceful playground with organized games such as kickball, dodge ball, tug of war, relay races, board games and more.  To make this happen we need the support of parent volunteers.  We are looking for parents, grandparents, aunts and uncles who can join us in the games on Tuesdays, Wednesdays or Thursdays.

11:00a-1:10p Tuesdays & Thursdays (outdoor games)

11:00a-1:10p Wednesdays (multipurpose room to supervise students playing board games)

Please contact the front office in you are interested in coordinating this program

Library Volunteer
With 1240 students, we circulate many books on a daily basis.  Please contact our librarian, Diana Sanchez at diana.sanchez@smusd.org for volunteering opportunities in the library.

Garden Docent

Promote grade-level projects in the school garden.  Work directly with children and teachers by overseeing ~2 projects a year in SEES’s outdoor-classroom.  The time commitment is flexible and includes periodic opportunities to meet as a Garden Committee where Docents can get support and/or help shape the next plans.  Please contact
